Eurobonds, MTNs and EDCs at İktisatbank

If you would like to diversify your portfolio with long-term foreign currency-denominated investment instruments, you can follow İktisatbank's live Eurobond, bank bond and government bond prices. The table below lists the current bid and ask prices of a wide range of securities denominated in Turkish lira and foreign currencies.

Before reading the table: An ISIN code is the unique international identification number assigned to each security; Days to Maturity is the time remaining from today until the maturity date; a Coupon Rate of 0.000 means that the security was issued without a coupon (at a discount), so its return is the difference between the purchase price and the payment at maturity; and the Bank Bid/Ask (Dirty) price is the total price including accrued coupon interest.

*Interest and similar income earned from securities issued by foreign institutions, organizations, and other countries' treasuries are subject to withholding tax at a rate of 18% for foreign currency-denominated income and 17.50% for income denominated in Turkish Lira.

Eurobonds

Eurobonds are long-term debt instruments issued in foreign currencies by governments or companies to raise funds outside their home countries. They offer investors periodic returns in foreign currency and broad liquidity. Eurobonds are most commonly issued in US dollars (USD), euros (EUR) and pounds sterling (GBP).

Eurobond coupon rates may be fixed or variable, and coupon payments are generally made every six months or once a year. Although they are issued with long maturities, their liquid secondary markets allow them to be converted into cash before maturity.

Eurobond settlement and custody transactions are carried out through Clearstream in Luxembourg and Euroclear in Belgium; therefore, Eurobonds are not physically delivered. The standard value date for transactions is T+1 business day.

MTN (Medium Term Note) and EDC (Euro Certificate of Deposit)

MTNs (Medium Term Notes) and EDCs (Euro Certificates of Deposit) are debt instruments that the issuer undertakes to repay within a specified term at a predetermined interest rate and under predefined conditions. Although structurally similar to bonds, they are generally designed for short- and medium-term financing needs.

MTNs and EDCs are generally offered under continuous issuance programmes, allowing issuers to determine elements such as maturity, interest structure and currency flexibly according to their financing needs. This flexibility also gives investors access to customisable investment alternatives suited to different risk-return profiles.

All of these securities are traded in liquid secondary markets and may be bought or sold before maturity. With fixed-income securities, investors know the interest income they will earn at the time of investment; the expected return is preserved when the security is held to maturity.

This is one of the main differences between investing in securities and holding a time deposit. The expected return is preserved when the security is held to maturity. However, if an investor chooses to sell it before maturity, the transaction price is determined by the market conditions prevailing on that date. As a result, an early sale may produce a return above or below the investor's original expectation due to market price fluctuations.

The coupon rate is a fixed rate set when the security is issued and paid regularly on its nominal (face) value; it does not change after issuance. The annual yield is the actual annual return provided when the security is purchased at its current market price (the Bank Bid/Ask price shown in the table) and held to maturity. If a security is purchased above its nominal value, its annual yield may be lower than its coupon rate; if it is purchased below nominal value, its annual yield may be higher.

MTNs and EDCs are structurally similar to Eurobonds, but they are generally designed for short- and medium-term financing needs and are offered under continuous issuance programmes.

The clean price excludes accrued coupon interest, while the dirty price is the total price including accrued coupon interest. The Bank Bid/Ask prices in the table are shown as dirty prices.
